Originating from Peru this cactus exhibits a bright blue wax, honey-brown spines, v notch above spines, thick growth habit, bright blue color caused by large amounts of glaucous wax (adaptation to protect from the sun like sunscreen) considered sacred by indigenous people in the area, and renowned for its medicinal properties.
