Temperatures for Happy, Healthy Houseplants

Temperature preferences vary from plant to plant, another similarity between plants and people! But most houseplants are tropical and prefer temperatures between 65-75°F during the day and about 10 degrees cooler at night. Temperatures below 50°F can cause problems. Adjust thermostats to cater to your comfort but remember your houseplants don't want to be too chilly. Be sure to keep them away from drafty doors and windows too.

If you're ever worried about extreme temperatures like when winter days dip below 0 degrees, make especially sure you've moved plants back from windows and away from air flow coming from opening and closing doors. These extreme temperatures are quick to do damage to your plants.

Buying a plant during winter? Make sure to add a heat pack for any plant deliveries from GreenHouse!
